Camino Photo of the Day: Up the Steps in Sarria

After navigating through the outskirts of the city,we come at last to the iconic steps that lead up into the older portion of Sarria. They may not seem like much, but after walking all morning, they’re not the best sight. Eamon tackles them first. Francine is seriously lagging by this point, as the lack of sleep is catching up to her again. Fortunately, there’s a well-placed café at the top of the steps! We had always intended that Sarria be our lunch spot. From here, the plan was to push on, as we had no desire to sleep here, where so many pilgrims begin their pilgrimage. This is really the first place we’ve come to that is not only crowded – all cities are crowded, after all! – but crowded with pilgrims.
