Camino Photo of the Day: Vanishing Point

I arrived in the village of Lascabanes (population 200) at just past one in the afternoon. It’s an odd place. Two streets look like this: narrow and medieval. You would think this is a bustling town. But once you stray from these, there are only a few scattered buildings. While I was securing lunch at the local café, the municipal gîte suddenly filled up with a touring group. The café owner was able to secure a bed for me in what was basically somebody’s basement with a private entrance onto this street. Unfortunately, this somewhat limited my dinner options, as I couldn’t now get the demi-pension at the municipal. The café wasn’t open late, and the nearest other place to eat was in the next village. I got some food to go from the café before it closed and put it in the basement refrigerator for later.
