Today in both the Extraordinary Form and the Benedictine Ordo is the Memorial of the Seven Holy Maccabees. Their story may be found in the
Bible – provided you’ve got a Catholic or an Orthodox one. Martin Luther removed these books from his Bible – so if you don’t know their story,
go read it!

At the Parish BBQ Yesterday

I happened to mention this to Francine this morning as we were getting ready for work, and without missing a beat she began to sing “Judah the Maccabee” to the tune of Monty Python’s “Eric the Half-a-Bee”.
It was glorious!
We often joke that Pistachio House is the stage for “Thom and Francine: the Musical”. The reason is moments like this.
