Papal Installation

The Vatican has published the programme for the Mass of Coronation Installation Inauguration, and boy howdy does it have a lot of chant in it!

I also note that the Gospel will be read in Greek, rather than in Greek and Latin, as was the custom.

After assorted rumours to the effect have been flying for the past couple of days, the Vatican has apparently confirmed that the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople is coming to the installation Mass, and he’s bringing several other Orthodox bishops with him.

I’m utterly flabbergasted by this. I’ve been unable to determine the last time this happened.

I’ve actually been unable to determine if this has ever happened.
