Torhalla’s Prayer #3

by Tørhalla Ulricsdøttìr

Great Bear, oh wise and wonderful protector, giver of strength and a stout heart. I pray first, as always, to you for your protection and strength and for those who of my tribe survived. I hold faith. Faith that I will be among them again… So that I might kill the honorless ones that sold me into slavery. Great Bear, this I still pray. Unceasingly. Every. Single. Day. I keep my sword sharpened to the task.

Dumbarton, for his small size, can talk a blue streak. I have never encountered two quite like them. At first they were very confused. As time went on, and a lot of food was consumed...

I hold faith. Faith that I will be among them again… So that I might kill the honorless ones that sold me into slavery. Great Bear, this I still pray. Unceasingly. Every. Single. Day. I keep my sword sharpened to the task.

As you know, because you see all, my master has died and I have been wandering. But I have no paper upon which to write nor do I feel I have enough words and so I think that I must carry on through conversations with you, O Great Protector.

I confide, I have felt restless and w...

Portrait in Passing

by Dumbarton Oakes

“…So, Fletch — you never met Fletch, Benyar bless his soul — Fletch pushes the guy out the window, And — while he’s falling — I set him on fire! It was beautiful. Ha, ha, hahaha!”

“Anyway, where was I? Seriously — where was I? Have I been here for a while? If anybody asks, are you an alibi? My memory plays tricks on me, y’kmow?”

“But, to answer your question, we’re living in a manor just outside of that big fort — I forget the name. My memory plays tricks on me, y’kmow? We’re training some new fighters, adepts, acolytes to Benyar….”

“Benyar? Big god from out of town. He’s new in these parts, but he’s catching on fast. I’ll leave you a pamphlet. Get in on it early, man!”

“Oh, look, those are my friends; I gotta go. Thanks for the drink. Hey, watch my hand for a minute, okay?”

“I was here al...
