GM’s Notes, 18 January 2015

by Thom

We’re finally getting this group blog going. Huzzah!

The time has come. All Experience Points are up to date, and the stat sheets are all updated. Most of the characters are closing in on third level, and the group is venturing away from the area of Frandor Keep for the first time.

Here’s how this works:

For each entry made in character, I will award an EP bonus of 25 points, the same amount that a session’s MVP receives.

Following each session, I will post a GM’s Report in a standardized format.

Date:

26 Barz’Tera – 02 Quay’Tera, 1308

Characters (Players) in attendance:

Doreen (NPC) – Halfling Fighter / 2
Dumbarton Oaks (Chris) – Pixie-Fairy Mage / 6
Fenkeh Burrowes (FrM) – Halfling Thief / 2
Kailan Morgause (Victoria) – Half-Elf “Art connoisseur” / 6
Nurther Skye (Gayle) – Dwarf Cleric of the Caregiver / 2
Nyneva Parsay (Francine) – Half-Elf Cleric of Benyar / 5
Ruati Ryiannasal (Daniel) – Elf Rogue / 2
Thibodaux (Brian/absent) – Dwarf Fighter / 2
Tørhalla Ulricsdøttìr (Francine) – Human Barbarian / 2

Voted Most Valuable Player:

(none)

GM Notes:

Frandor Shopping! The group made a list and then shopped for supplies at Dasas and the snooty Elven fletcher.

Then back to Karinar Manor to make some last minute arrangements – Nyneva and Thibodaux are to stay behind to supervise the renovation work and protect the manor.

Doreen (sweet Doreen!) was inducted as a full member of the Dumbarton Oaks Experience.

The party set off on the quest to (re)find Dumbarton’s tree – seven party members, Kailan’s horse Nick, Tørhalla’s wolf Ulric, two unnamed goats, and Doreen driving a cart pulled by her donkey Daisy. Progress was slow.

They struck out south from Karinar on the Old Has Road. They followed the road upstream. Towards afternoon the ever-present rain finally stopped. They camped out near a ford – possibly the ruins of an old village, as there was a perfectly intact hearth and chimney, which they used for warmth and cooking.

The next day they continued. Upwards through the mountain pass they climbed. Towards afternoon it began to snow as the temperature dropped.

By evening, they had still not found a sheltered place to camp, though they could see a building up at the top of the pass.

They pressed on in the dark and driving snow. Finally, freezing and exhausted, they were met by a Gnome with a lantern who welcomed them to “the Top of the World”.

Experience Points:

  • Ruati Ryiannasal  says:

Ruati says to her cohorts as they are rushing out of Frandor, “I swear I had no idea that what happened to me in Fangerie would follow me out here in the sticks. I didn’t want to talk about it because it’s embarrassing. I should’ve known better that the Captain of the Guard was married but I never thought he’d be lying in the first place. Of course he lied in the second place to cover his reputation at my expense. So I’ll eventually have to find a way to prove my position as I’m the one that was taken advantage of even if I did think I had a good catch. What lady wouldn’t want to have him. He is the Captain of the Guard for goodness sake. It was at least fun while it lasted, but damn it this running away from the law is getting to be a pain in the arse.”
