GM Notes:

The group talked with the old witch, Helena Bomar, and got very little out of her except the name of her son (Bomari), and the assurance that if they would bring back a fresh human corpse (“for a potion I’m working on”), she would tell them where they could find him.

They declined, instead hoping to track the Kobolds back to their lair.

Whilst wandering out in the woods, they came upon a swampy area near a stream. There, they were set upon by a pair of stirges (also variously known as strix and “crap, that’s a big skeeter”). These were dispatched by a magnificent display of archery by Fenkeh and Doreen.

Saved by the Halfling archers!

The group noticed that the entire streambed as far as they could see was positively infested with stirges, and they wisely withdrew.

They also had some close encounters with a butchered bear carcass and a pair of starving and not-very-bright wolves.

Finally, they came upon a small group of Kobolds gathering berries. Dumbarton “convinced” them that the party were envoys who wished to pay a visit to the Elm King.

The hapless Kobold foragers brought the group to the narrow entrance of a box canyon, in the shadow of a natural rock spire the colour of the sunrise.

Here, they were treated to the head of the lead Kobold being lobbed back to them with their introductory letter to the Elm King spiked to his forehead.

The party withdrew to the forest and camped for the night, running into a desperately lost herbalist from Sabden named Talus Somar. He begged them to take him to Has, where he was going to the festival.

And so they did, arriving in Has as night was falling.
